Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Listitglobal.com, registered at Manhattan, New York, United States, collects and uses personal data when you use List It Global (listitglobal.com). We are the data controller for this processing.

Data protection enquiries: privacy@listitglobal.com

1. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account data: username, email address, and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
  • Profile data (optional): full name, phone number, company information, website, profile image, and messaging-app preferences.
  • Listing data: title, description, price, category, images, attachments, attributes, and the location you select, including the street address, town or city, and the latitude and longitude of the place you choose.
  • Communications: messages you send to other users through the Site, reviews you write, abuse reports you submit, and emails you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, and pages viewed.
  • Usage data: listing views, phone-number reveals, favourites, and comparisons.
  • Security data: Google reCAPTCHA analyses your interaction with the Site to distinguish humans from automated traffic. This involves Google collecting device and behavioural information.

We do not collect payment card details. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

2. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • Creating and managing your account â€” performance of a contract.
  • Publishing your advertisements and showing them to other users â€” performance of a contract.
  • Enabling messaging between users â€” performance of a contract.
  • Sending service emails (registration, approval, expiry, password reset) — performance of a contract.
  • Moderating listings, preventing fraud, spam and abuse â€” legitimate interests.
  • Securing the Site, including reCAPTCHA â€” legitimate interests.
  • Understanding and improving how the Site is used â€” legitimate interests.
  • Marketing emails and newsletters â€” consent.
  • Non-essential cookies â€” consent.
  • Responding to lawful requests and meeting legal obligations â€” legal obligation.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered the impact on you and believe our interest in operating a safe, functioning marketplace is not overridden by your rights. You may object at any time, see section 7.

3. What is visible to others

Your advertisements are public. Anyone, including search engines, can see the listing title, description, price, images, attributes, the location you selected, your display name, and your seller rating. If you choose to display a phone number, it is visible to logged-in users who reveal it. Reviews you write are public and attributed to your display name.

Please do not include personal information in listing text or images that you would not want publicly available.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract:

  • Hostinger â€” website hosting and data storage.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue) â€” sending transactional and marketing email. Brevo is established in the European Union.
  • Google â€” Maps, Places and Geocoding for location features; reCAPTCHA for security; Google Sign-In where you choose it. Google acts as an independent controller for some of this processing.
  • Mailchimp â€” newsletter delivery, where you have subscribed.
  • Meta (Facebook) â€” in our mobile apps only, to measure which adverts brought people to List It Global. Meta receives your device advertising identifier and app events such as sign-up and listing views. On iOS this happens only if you allow tracking when asked; on Android you can switch it off under Privacy choices.
  • Google Firebase â€” in our mobile apps, for push notifications, crash reporting (Crashlytics), and usage analytics.
  • Google AdMob â€” advertising in our mobile apps. Advertising is currently switched off; if we enable it, users in the UK and European Economic Area will be asked for consent first.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.

5. Our mobile apps

The iOS and Android apps collect everything described above, and the following in addition.

  • Device identifiers: a push notification token, so we can send you messages about your account, and your device advertising identifier, used only for the advertising measurement described in section 4.
  • Crash and performance data: crash reports, launch times and error logs, so we can find and fix faults. These are linked to an app installation rather than to your account.
  • Approximate location: if you allow it, to show adverts near you and to set the area on adverts you post. We never collect or store your precise location, and the map position on an advert is deliberately offset so it does not reveal an exact address.

Personalisation. We use the categories you browse, the searches you run and the adverts you save to order your home feed, so listings you are more likely to want appear first. This affects the order listings are shown in, never the price, and it is based on your activity on List It Global alone. You can clear it at any time from Account → Privacy → Reset recommendations.

Tracking permission on iOS. Apple requires us to ask before your device advertising identifier is used for advertising measurement. If you decline, the app works exactly the same and we do not share that identifier with Meta.

Notifications. You choose which notifications to receive under Account → Notification settings, and you can turn them off entirely in your device settings. Messages about your own adverts and conversations are separate from news and offers.

6. International transfers

We operate globally and your data may be transferred outside your country, including to the United States. Where data leaves the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an adequacy decision. You may request details of these safeguards using the contact address above.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account data: for as long as your account is open, and up to 90 days after closure to handle disputes and prevent re-registration abuse.
  • Advertisements: live for 60 days, then retained in an expired state so you can renew them, and deleted 12 months after expiry.
  • Messages and reviews: retained while both accounts remain open.
  • Abuse reports and moderation records: up to 24 months, to identify repeat offenders.
  • Server and security logs: typically 30 days.

We may keep data longer where we must to comply with a legal obligation or to establish or defend a legal claim.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access a copy of your data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion; restrict or object to processing, including profiling for direct marketing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@listitglobal.com. We will respond within one month.

Deleting your account or your data. You can delete your account yourself at any time, from the app under Account → Privacy, or from your account settings on this website. You can also remove individual advertisements, conversations and saved items without closing your account. Full instructions, including what is deleted and what we are required to keep, are on our Delete your account page. If you no longer have access to the app or your account, email support@listitglobal.com and we will handle the request for you.

If you are in the UK or EEA and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

California residents: you have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA and CPRA, and we do not offer financial incentives for personal information.

9. Cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the Site: keeping you logged in, remembering favourites and comparisons, securing forms, and caching pages for performance. These do not require consent. Where we use analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first and you can withdraw it at any time. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though blocking essential cookies will break parts of the Site.

10. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, access controls, and automated abuse detection. No online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required by law.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy. Where changes are material we will notify you by email or an on-site notice before they take effect.
